Nigeria Strengthens Public Financing for NCDs Prevention and Control
Funding for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) is rarely top of mind when health ministry policymakers gather. This holds true across the globe. NCDs cause three-quarters of all deaths worldwide, yet they draw only about 1 to 2 per cent of global financing for health and roughly the same share of official development assistance for health. There is no dedicated global fund for NCDs. Domestic budgets and donor money still flow overwhelmingly to communicable diseases.
