We advance policy and systems change by mobilizing civil society movements and strengthening the capacity of our local partners to advocate for better health outcomes. To date, GHAI has supported civil society advocates to pass public health policies in more than 30 countries covering 3 billion people.

We employ a cross-disciplinary approach that includes political mapping, legal and litigation strategy, strategic planning, communications and media advocacy, coalition building and grassroots mobilization and more.

Sweetened Beverage Taxes: Lessons from a Decade of Progress

Locally-led advocacy campaigns supported by the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) have contributed to the adoption and strengthening of sweetened beverage (SB) taxes in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and South Asia. The lessons learned from these campaigns are being applied by advocates around the world to counter the threat caused by SBs in their countries and generate new government revenues.
