We’re proud to work within and across issues and countries, in diverse political systems. We’re equally proud of our global network of local partners, who lead and sustain advocacy campaigns to improve health and save lives in their communities. But all of this is only possible because of our fantastic team.
Our GHAI team consists of advocates with expertise and experience in all of the elements necessary to build the capacity of in-country advocates, analyze the local landscape, and plan and execute successful campaigns. We asked some of them to describe what they do, in their own words, and why they do it. This is what they said.

Mwanamkasi Hassan started her work as a community health worker in Kilifi County, Kenya with a simple conviction. "I started this work with a clean heart," she says. "I serve the community wholeheartedly."

In March 2026, Việt Nam marked a defining milestone, transitioning its child drowning prevention programme from a donor-supported pilot into a fully nationally owned initiative. Over eight years, the partnership between the Government of Việt Nam, Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) helped more than 75,000 children learn survival swimming skills and reduced drowning mortality by 16% in the areas where it operated — results that position Việt Nam as a reference point for countries building sustainable drowning prevention systems.

Funding for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) is rarely top of mind when health ministry policymakers gather. This holds true across the globe. NCDs cause three-quarters of all deaths worldwide, yet they draw only about 1 to 2 per cent of global financing for health and roughly the same share of official development assistance for health. There is no dedicated global fund for NCDs. Domestic budgets and donor money still flow overwhelmingly to communicable diseases.
