The Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) was launched by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK) in 2014. This week, we introduced our work to the global public health community at an event in Washington, DC. We shared our model and announced our commitment to working with other organizations around the world who want to use policy change to reduce death and disease.
We were pleased to be joined by Dr. Kelly Henning and Kelly Larson from Bloomberg Philanthropies. Dr. Henning described our work together, including Bloomberg Philanthropies’ maternal and reproductive health project in Tanzania, which yesterday transitioned to government ownership thanks in part to GHAI advocacy support.
The Washington event also featured remarks by GHAI and CTFK leadership, and the debut of a video about our work and mission.

On October 29, 2026, the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) will launch Voices from the Margins of Care: People Living with Noncommunicable Diseases in Asia and Africa, a compendium of patient testimonies from Bangladesh, India and Nigeria via a webinar that puts these realities at the center of the conversation on health policy.

On a field visit to Zambia, the Global Health Advocacy Incubator’s (GHAI) Associate Director of Communications for Health Systems Strengthening, Abel Akara Ticha, together with colleagues from the Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ), met Dr. Jacob Sakala, Manager of Zambia’s Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), in Lusaka.

Ahead of the ceremony, here's a look at what this cohort achieved.
Over 10 months, GHAI's Advocacy Accelerator strengthened the capacity of 12 civil society organizations (CSOs) from 11 countries across Africa and Asia to influence domestic health financing, combining hands-on learning, expert mentorship and peer exchange. Through capstone projects spanning cardiovascular health, drowning prevention, health security, mental health, road safety and tobacco control, this cohort achieved concrete results.
