A new public health advocacy casebook highlights the importance of supporting locally-led advocacy.

This week, the World Federation of Public Health Associations released The Casebook on Advocacy in Public Health — a compilation of featured stories, lessons learned and best practices in advancing policies that save lives.

In the new casebook, the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) experts Angela Bruce Raeburn, Mena El-Turky, Ana Rhia Muhi and Mardy Halcon share an inside look and key lessons from the efforts of local road safety advocates.

Road traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for people ages 5 – 29 worldwide. In the Philippines, GHAI has supported advocates working toward a landmark child restraint law that requires children of a certain age to be secured in a car seat. With the law officially passed — and with enforcement on the horizon later this year — this advocacy effort is projected to save lives and provide safe rides to thousands of children.

Visit the Casebook here to learn how civil society organizations achieved this major public health policy advancement — and how GHAI supported them. Make sure to spread the word about this new resource in public health advocacy by sharing with your networks. You can also share on social media by retweeting GHAI on Twitter or sharing with your network on LinkedIn.
