Uganda’s government launched Africa’s first-ever National Safe School Zones Guide in May 2025, answering a call from advocates to protect children on their journeys to and from school.
Between 2018 and 2025, GHAI assisted the government and local partners to orchestrate a transformative, strategic communications campaign that helped to secure landmark national drowning prevention policies that now protect millions of Vietnamese children. Through innovative media partnerships, evidence-based storytelling and multi-level stakeholder engagement, we transformed awareness into action that changed behaviors, influenced policy and created lasting systems for continued impact.
In an important victory for public health in Nigeria, Kano State more than doubled its budget for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD) between fiscal years 2024/2025 and 2025/2026. This substantial budgetary expansion demonstrates the power of sustained, data-driven advocacy and strategic partnerships in securing domestic health funding for chronic disease prevention and management.
