Sofia Rincon Gallardo Patiño (MSc, PhD) is Associate Director of Advocacy for the Cardiovascular Health Program. She is a public health researcher with over 10 years of professional experience leading domestic and international projects on obesity and noncommunicable diseases funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Partnership for Healthier America, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Resolve to Save Lives and UNICEF. Before joining the Global Health Advocacy Incubator, Sofia served as a regional consultant for the Pan American Health Organization where she provided support and technical advice for the adoption, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of food and nutrition policies across the Americas. Previously, Sofia was a research fellow at the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico. She is a nutritionist with a Master’s degree in Science and a PhD in Food and Nutrition Policies from Virginia Tech University. She has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed papers.
