Mervyn Christian is the Director, Advocacy and Capacity Strengthening for the Road Safety program at GHAI. He is the advocacy and capacity strengthening focal point for the road safety team as well as leads strategic advocacy initiatives for Bangladesh and India. He supports road safety team members and country-level partners to assess advocacy needs and strengths, develop advocacy capacity strengthening plans, and skills enhancement initiatives and conceptualize strategic advocacy campaigns. He is strengthening advocacy monitoring, evaluation, and learning practices across the road safety team.

Prior to GHAI, Mervyn led a large multi-disciplinary family planning advocacy portfolio of the Advance Family Planning project, an evidence-based advocacy initiative at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He directed and facilitated policy, budget, and media advocacy efforts that led to policy, and budgetary wins to improve quality of family planning services and mobilized $20M+ in domestic resources for family planning. He brings more than 15 years of experience and expertise in leading advocacy initiatives, strategy development, people and project management, capacity strengthening, and monitoring, evaluation and learning. He is passionate about equity and sustainability in global health.

Mervyn has a Master’s in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management of NGOs from the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India and a Bachelor's in Science from St. Xavier’s College, Gujarat University, India.
