Joy Amafah is the Nigeria Coordinator for our Cardiovascular Health and Food Policy programs. She coordinates activities across a coalition of civil society and non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders, providing strategic country leadership and technical assistance to advocate for relevant policies to reduce cardiovascular-related deaths through regulatory standards in line with global best practices. Joy is an accomplished public health professional with over 10 years of experience overseeing public health programs for the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Nigeria relating to HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, coordinating grants funding and implementing innovative programs to advance public and community health outcomes in Nigeria. She has played key roles on major projects including the National AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey, served as a liaison for Nigeria's accelerated HIV treatment program in selected states, and led the successful expansion of telehealth and telemedicine in Nigeria through the Project Extension for Community Healthcare Outcome. Joy has a bachelor of science degree in chemistry, a postgraduate diploma in social works, a master of science in public health and certifications in relevant fields.
