Abel is the Associate Director of Communications for Health System Strengthening. Abel is a development communications professional with over two decades of experience. In his most recent role as Senior Communications Officer for the International Crisis Group, he drove engagement with world-class and local media on preventing conflicts in Africa. Before that, he covered 10 countries and led Africa-wide communications projects to position the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UN ECA) as the go-to think tank for economic diversification, including policy work on Covid-19 and the economy. He has also served as Senior Communications Officer of the African Union’s African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF). He was a respected broadcast journalist in Cameroon for 8+ years. Abel speaks English, French and West African Pidgin. Before moving to the US, he lived in Cameroon, South Africa, Zimbabwe, the UK and Kenya.
