Tracey Malawana

Tracey Malawana is an In-Country Consultant for the Food and Nutrition Program in South Africa.
In her role, she supports local partners to strengthen policy engagement, strategic advocacy, and partnerships to advance healthier food environments through food policies in South Africa.
She is a systems-oriented social justice activist, movement builder, and policy strategist with over a decade of experience advancing public health, education, and gender equality through grassroots organising, strategic partnerships, and evidence-based advocacy. She has played a leading role in advocacy efforts that contributed to landmark policy and legislative reforms in South Africa, including the Health Promotion Levy (Sugar Tax) and the Minimum Uniform Norms and Standards for Public School Infrastructure.
She holds a National Diploma in Public Relations Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Development from the University of South Africa.
